Now that the Canaries have a new head coach with Daniel Farke coming in, they are rebuilding the squad to make sure they avoid the disappointment of last season when they failed to challenge for promotion just a year after they were relegated from the Premier League. Notably, Farke has been looking abroad to many of his signings and while most have been from Germany, he is now looking to Italy for his latest signing. The player they have been looking at closely in the last few days is Obi, currently contracted to Italian team Torino. However he has struggled to establish himself in the first team since moving to the Maroons in 2015 and has only made 23 appearances for the club in his two years there. So it’s no surprise to hear that even though there are two years left on his current deal, Torino have made him available for transfer which has led to Norwich making their move.

But while the Canaries are very hopeful of making sure that Obi is one of their players next season, they do face competition from across Europe as plenty of teams are looking to snap him up. There are a few Spanish teams interested in signing him though Las Palmas are the only ones named while Greek team Thessalonki are also in the race to sign him. However Norwich will be hoping to beat them all to his signature.Joel Obi - Player profile | Transfermarkt
