Wolves played against Luton Town last night at Molineux, in their penultimate pre-season friendly before the new season.
Wanderers drew 0-0 with the newly promoted Premier League side, but put in a decent performance.
Several chances were created by the hosts, and there were positive performances from strikers Fabio Silva and Sasa Kalajdzic despite neither player scoring.
Julen Lopetegui went with an interesting team last night.
He changed things up quite a bit, with only Max Kilman and Matheus Nunes keeping their places from the Celtic game.
Mario Lemina missed out entirely due to illness.
But there was another interesting and potentially ominous absence last night in the Wolves squad.
Jonny Castro Otto misses out against Luton
It was interesting to note that Jonny Castro Otto was not a part of Wolves’ squad last night.
Unlike Daniel Podence, who has been away from the first-team all summer amid speculation about his future, Jonny has actually featured for Wolves in pre-season. Albeit not very much.
During the first trip to Portugal, he got minutes against Vitoria. And he also played against Blackpool at Compton Park.
But against FC Porto and Celtic he was an unused substitute.
And last night, he was not a part of the squad to face Luton, potentially suggesting there could be something in the offing.
Jonny set to depart?
One wonders if there might be something about to happen with Jonny.
Of course, it’s possible he might also be nursing a knock.
Sasa Kalajdzic confirmed after the game last night that his fiance Lorena was at the game watching alongside Jonny’s wife Norma.
Wolves have released some quotes from an interview with Max Kilman. And on their article there is a photo there showing that Jonny was actually sat with his teammates pitchside.
It remains to be seen if the £15 million man will be bidding farewell in the coming days.
It would be a shame to see him go, considering how brilliant he was in his early days at the club and how he always gives his all. But it is the right time for him to move on.
