Manchester United have shortlisted Romeo Lavia if they fail in their pursuit of Sofyan Amrabat.
Erik ten Hag is adamant about adding another midfielder to his ranks after Mason Mount’s arrival in July.
The Red Devils have since overseen Andre Onana’s signing and are waiting to announce Rasmus Hojlund after he completed his medical and signed his contract at Carrington yesterday.
As per the Independent, Lavia is among the club’s options for the centre of the park before the window closes. Liverpool have had two bids for the Belgian international swiftly rebutted as Southampton stand firm on their £50 million asking price.
Sales key for Unted’s midfield pursuit
For United, they will need to sell players before tabling an offer for either Lavia or Amrabat, with Fred and Donny van de Beek the expected outgoings as it stands.
The wantaway Fiorentina star seems the most likely to make the switch due to the fact he is already a complete and developed player, though Lavia certainly boasts exceptional talent and ability despite his young age of 19.
