Albert Sambi Lokonga has moved another step closer to leaving Arsenal with a move to Burnley accelerating.

Arsenal are now close to offloading Albert Sambi Lokonga to Premier League rivals Burnley.

That is according to Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri, who claims that a meeting took place on Wednesday to thrash out Lokonga’s future.

It’s stated that Burnley held the meeting to try and finalise personal terms with midfielder Lokonga.

Tavolieri claims that the deal is now ‘getting closer’ and only the final details are needed for this deal to be in place.

Lokonga joined Arsenal two years ago as he left Anderlecht in a £17million move to North London.

Lokonga initially showed real promise at Arsenal but appeared to lose confidence at the Emirates Stadium.

The 23-year-old made just six Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season, amounting to just 196 minutes of action.

Lokonga has become lost in the shuffle at Arsenal as they made rapid progress last season, and he spent the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace.

Now seemingly available again, Lokonga could go on loan with a view to a permanent move, or be sold right now.

Albert Sambi Lokonga should jump at Vincent Kompany reunion

Playing regularly under a manager who believes in him has to be the priority for Lokonga.

With that in mind, a move to Burnley seems pretty much ideal.Arsenal's Albert Sambi Lokonga offered to Roma as new midfield signing

Clarets boss Vincent Kompany coached Lokonga at Anderlecht and was a huge fan of the midfielder.

Kompany has called Lokonga ‘special’ and even compared the Arsenal man to Yaya Toure, a player Kompany saw plenty of at Manchester City.

If anybody can get Lokonga back on track, it’s surely Kompany, who is looking for additions to help Burnley in the Premier League.

This deal seems perfect for Lokonga and it looks like Arsenal won’t stand in his way from leaving.
