In a move that has stunned fans, players, and even rival clubs, Canberra Raiders five-eighth Ethan Strange has proven he’s not only a rising star on the field, but a true hero off it. Upon signing what is now being called the largest contract in NRL history, Strange made a bold, heartwarming decision that transcends the game of rugby league forever.

He donated his entire $100 million signing bonus.

Yes, you read that right. Every single cent.

“I didn’t get into footy for the money,” Strange said at a packed press conference. “I got into it for the love of the game—and also to one day fund 10,000 scholarships for underprivileged kids, build a fleet of mobile animal hospitals, and finally replace all the goalposts at suburban footy grounds with gold-plated carbon-neutral ones.”

Strange’s donation will reportedly go toward a number of causes, including:

  • The “No Boot Left Behind” initiative, ensuring every kid has footy boots by the age of five.
  • Kangaroo Karma, a sanctuary for injured wildlife founded by former NRL prop turned shaman, Barry “Big Baz” Thompson.
  • The National Meat Pie Archive, preserving Australia’s greatest stadium meat pies for future generations.

Social media exploded with support, with hashtags like #SaintStrange, #MillionDollarMullet, and #RaidersRejoice trending within minutes.

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart was emotional. “In all my years, I’ve never seen anything like this. I once gave up a free meat pie for charity and thought that was big. But this? This is biblical.”

Even rival players have weighed in. Panthers star Nathan Cleary tweeted: “I’d donate too but my signing bonus was 3 meat trays and a $50 Westfield voucher. Respect, Ethan.”

The NRL is reportedly considering renaming the Dally M Medal to the Strange Acts of Kindness Award in honour of the young playmaker’s generosity.

When asked what he plans to live on now, Strange simply smiled and said, “I’ll be alright. I’ve got my Raiders family, a shed full of two-minute noodles, and a heart full of dreams.”
