LIVE UPDATE:Nottingham Forest star player set to join EFL outfit on loan . deal could be done today

Nottingham Forest winger Josh Bowler is set to join Cardiff City on loan for the 2023/24 campaign. The Reds took the player with them to their pre-season training camp in Spain but are now prepared to let him leave. When were Nottingham Forest last in the Premier League? | Goal.com

According to Wales Online, the deal could be announced as soon as this afternoon. He will become the sixth summer signing for the Bluebirds ahead of their season starting this weekend.

Bowler hasn’t enjoyed a good time of things since signing for Forest. He joined on the transfer deadline day in August 2022 but was immediately loaned out to Greek champions Olympiacos.

His time with the sister club of Forest wasn’t overly successful. A change in manager saw him fall down the pecking order and in January he was recalled and instead sent back to Blackpool on loan.

Bowler quite simply needs to play regular football. Last season saw his development stagnate somewhat and ultimately, the Reds will want to ensure his career isn’t stalling on the fringes at Forest.

Cardiff looks like a decent move for the player. Bowler can provide some trickery from the flanks, whilst the player will hope to weigh in with plenty of goals and assists during his loan spell.

It’s claimed that the Welsh outfit have fought off competition from Stoke for Bowler’s services. Things look set to be completed and this is another player off the books from a Forest perspective.

Hopefully, a few more will follow. The Reds are desperate for reinforcements, with Ola Aina and Anthony Elanga the only new additions to Steve Cooper’s squad so far this summer.Josh Bowler - Player profile 23/24 | Transfermarkt

Bowler was never going to get a look in at Forest. Given that he’s now 24-years-old, he would have to be registered and the Reds simply don’t have room within their squad.

This looks like a positive move for Bowler. He knows the Championship extremely well and he will hope to play plenty of football at the Cardiff City Stadium.
