With the prospect of Harry Kane leaving Tottenham this summer, it’s only natural that Spurs would be looking at potential replacements, such as Jonathan David, as per Friday’s edition of L’Equipe.

The striker has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, who appear rather desperate to sign the England international, although they still have to overcome the Daniel Levy hurdle.

Tottenham would rather not lose Kane, but if they were to, you would think the prospect of getting a lot of money for him would be the preferable route, which would then give the Premier League side more leeway to find an adequate successor.

Whether Jonathan David is that man remains to be seen, but the aforementioned French newspaper believe he is one of the candidates.

Looking at the Canada international’s future, they reveal that Lille have ‘set their price’ for the star striker at €60m.

The hope was for someone to come in with that amount, but the striker merry-go-round has yet to start, with Kane seemingly holding everybody up.

Either way, Tottenham are ‘observing’ David in case they have to sell their striker, but there is a lot of competition, with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and even Newcastle all also keen on a player who scored 26 goals in 40 appearances last season for the Ligu

But it seems as though Ange Postecoglou has cottoned onto the fact that the 26-year-old is someone who needs ‘a bit of an arm around the shoulder’, as he told his own YouTube channel.

The player himself hasn’t helped himself by scoring only one Premier League goal last term, despite being Spurs’ club-record transfer.

But after hitting a hat-trick in pre-season recently, fans will be hoping it gives the all-action forward that bit of confidence and belief heading into the new campaign.
