Liverpool are reportedly confident they can get a deal done in the coming days to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Reds have not lost any faith in securing a deal to sign Lavia, with progress slowing down in the last few days after a frantic last week.
Liverpool made two bids for Lavia as the Merseyside giants look to bring the Belgian international to Anfield before the start of the Premier League season, yet things have been rather quiet in recent days
Nevertheless, Liverpool remain confident in signing Lavia, who would become Jurgen Klopp’s third midfield addition of the window after Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Jacobs said: “Liverpool are reliant on the fact that they’re got player buy-in and now it’s about what deal they can get done for under £50m and how much under £50m, because when Liverpool don’t see value, they tend to walk away.
But in this case, they believe they can get a deal done on their terms and things are progressing. So this one stands a very realistic possibility now of getting done.”
Liverpool have to wrap up Lavia sooner rather than later
Praised by Pep Guardiola as an ‘incredible’ player, Lavia is inching ever closer to a move to Liverpool, yet the Reds have to ensure that the midfielder is signed up sooner rather than later.
As we know, the new Premier League season begins less than two weeks away, and signing Lavia before the start of the campaign will be massive in Liverpool being fully prepared for what’s to come.
Indeed, Liverpool know that Lavia has the talent to become a superstar in the midfield, and wasting time trying to save a few million feels pointless given how little time there now is between now and the start of the season.
