Ruben Amorim Praises Rashford’s Evolution and Bruno Fernandes’ Leadership at Manchester United
Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim has stirred the football world with his insights into the dynamics at Manchester United, particularly focusing on Marcus Rashford’s role under Erik ten Hag and the influence of Bruno Fernandes. Speaking in a recent interview, Amorim, widely regarded as one of the brightest young managers in European football, offered high praise for the progress of both players.
Amorim, who has been linked with top managerial roles across Europe, highlighted Rashford’s transformation over the past year. “What we’re seeing with Rashford is a player who has found his identity on the pitch,” Amorim noted. “Under Ten Hag, he has become more decisive, whether it’s his movement off the ball, his positioning, or his finishing. Rashford is no longer just a player with potential—he’s a leader in attack.”
The Sporting manager drew parallels between Rashford’s role at United and his experiences with nurturing young talent at Sporting. “It’s about trust and giving the player clear responsibilities. Rashford seems to have embraced the idea that he’s not just there to contribute but to lead. That shift in mentality is crucial for any team aiming to compete at the highest level.”
Amorim also didn’t hold back his admiration for Bruno Fernandes, who has been a pivotal figure at Old Trafford since his arrival from Sporting CP in January 2020. “Bruno’s growth doesn’t surprise me,” Amorim said. “He was always a player with an incredible sense of responsibility and hunger. What he’s doing at Manchester United is exactly what I expected from him.”
The Portuguese coach hailed Fernandes’ ability to command the midfield and inspire those around him. “Bruno is not just a technical leader but also a psychological one. He’s the kind of player who lifts the standards of everyone else. United’s resurgence in recent years owes a lot to his consistency and drive.”
When asked about the potential of Rashford and Fernandes becoming the cornerstones of a title-winning side, Amorim expressed confidence. “Manchester United has a strong foundation with players like Rashford and Fernandes. If they build the right support around them, there’s no reason they can’t achieve great things.”
Amorim’s comments come amid growing speculation about his own future, with some pundits suggesting he could be a candidate to manage in the Premier League. While he remained tight-lipped about his ambitions, his glowing assessment of Manchester United’s key players reflects a deep understanding of the game’s evolving demands.
For United fans, Amorim’s words offer further affirmation of the club’s trajectory under Ten Hag, with Rashford and Fernandes firmly at the heart of their ambitions.
