The U.S. figure skating team has been officially recognized as gold medalists from the 2022 Beijing Olympics following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Thursday. This landmark decision paves the way for the team to receive their medals at the Paris Summer Games.
“We are thrilled to finally honor these incredible athletes,” stated Sarah Hirshland, chief executive of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. “We are especially excited that the beautiful city of Paris will join us in this celebration.”
This confirmation comes nearly 2 1/2 years after the American skaters left the Beijing Winter Games without a medal of any color, having endured multiple layers of appeals through the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Now, their perseverance and dedication will be rightfully recognized on an international stage.
