  • West Ham are growing concerned they will lose out on Conor Gallagher
  • The Hammers are in discussions over a move for the Chelsea midfielder
  • But Gallagher is determined to fight for his position at Stamford Bridge .

West Ham fear missing out on Conor Gallagher as the player wants to stay and fight for his place under Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea.

Gallagher, 23, has been the subject of discussions between West Ham and Chelsea. The Hammers had hoped a £40million bid including add-ons would suffice, though that valuation has been dismissed by the Blues.

Tottenham and Newcastle have also been linked but there is a growing realisation among those interested that the England midfielder does not want to leave, largely due to his fondness of his new manager.

It is the latest slice of misfortune that West Ham have endured in their search for replacements for Declan Rice, their defensive midfielder who joined Arsenal for £105m earlier this month.

Their attempts at landing Ajax’s Edson Alvarez, Juventus’ Denis Zakaria and Fulham’s Joao Palhinha have all encountered issues, while talks are now ongoing to sign James Ward-Prowse, who is valued at £40m by Southampton. Negotiations with the Saints are said to have been positive.

Pochettino has said during their pre-season tour of the United States that Gallagher is a part of his plans. Conor Gallagher is determined to fight for his place at Chelsea amid interest from West Ham

The academy graduate has two years left on his current contract with Chelsea and scored in both of their friendly wins over Wrexham and Brighton in the US in the last week.

Manchester United’s Scott McTominay and Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana are also on West Ham’s potential targets list as they try to identify the midfielder who represents the best value for money.
