Stoke City news from StokeonTrentLive as Alex Neil names his side to take on Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium in a pre-season friendly fixture
Stoke City boss Alex Neil has named his side to take on Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium in their latest pre-season friendly fixture.
Neil has made four changes to the side that lost 3-0 to Derby County on Saturday at Pride Park. Andre Vidigal makes the bench after signing from Maritimo on Monday, while Chiquinho is handed his Stoke debut, replacing Enda Stevens after he earned his first 90 minutes of the season at Derby
His Wolves counterpart Ki-Jana Hoever replaces Tom Edwards and starts his first game for Stoke since rejoining on loan. The full-back scored four goals from January until the end of the season and earned many plaudits from Stoke fans.
Connor Taylor is dropped from the team that lost 3-0 to Derby and speculation is gathering around a possible departure on loan or permanently. Michael Rose takes his place making his first Stoke start after his 20-minute cameo at Pride Park. He hasn’t played a 90-minute match since playing against Stoke in April 2023.

Stoke are fielding a trialist for the game. Josh Onomah is training at Stoke for fitness and to possibly earn a contract so maybe we will see a cameo from him? The former Spurs player was part of the England U17 World Cup-winning squad and won promotion at Fulham in 2022. He is currently a free agent after leaving Preston North End
Josh Tymon moves into left-back after two games at left wing against Levante and Derby putting Tyrese Campbell in a more comfortable role on the left wing. Last time he played in this position he scored a hat trick against Notts County and currently has four goals this preseason campaign.
