Roberto de Zerbi’s condition and his next step have been clarified by Fabrizio Romano in an exclusive interview with CaughtOffside for his most recent Daily Briefing piece. Roberto de Zerbi was revealed to be departing Brighton at the end of the current campaign.
De Zerbi will undoubtedly receive an emotional send-off today as he leads the team in its final game at home against Manchester United. He has performed admirably with the Seagulls.
Even yet, the Italian tactician is expected to have several high-profile positions in the near future, including one at Bayern Munich. However, Romano has since stated that he is no longer considering the position at the Allianz Arena.
In addition, Romano clarified that De Zerbi, 44, was not departing Brighton because he already had a position lined up; it appeared that his future remained free.
This should add interest to the situation because it suggests that more teams may want to sign him this summer—Bayern is undoubtedly not the only major team searching for a new manager.
De Zerbi not leaving Brighton for Bayern job, says Romano
Clarifying the situation on De Zerbi’s future, Romano said: “So, what next for De Zerbi? At the moment he has not agreed anything with any other club. We’ve heard rumours about De Zerbi and Bayern again, but my understanding is that this was a topic in April, when Max Eberl was really pushing to have De Zerbi, he was one of the candidates on their list, but then Bayern and De Zerbi, for different reasons, decided to leave the conversations. It was never close, and now De Zerbi is not going to Bayern
“Let’s observe how other jobs turn out. De Zerbi is available and will wait for the right chance. Bayern, on the other hand, will be debating internally about the best candidate to succeed Thomas Tuchel at this time. They will consider whether to go with a more experienced coach or a more credible choice. Although Hansi Flick is greatly appreciated by many at the club, there are still unresolved internal issues.
As of this writing, De Zerbi is not yet in advanced negotiations with any team. Contrary to what may have been stated elsewhere, he did not quit Brighton because he had a new project lined up; rather, he is waiting for a new project.
