Orlando Pirates duo Patrick Maswanganyi and Makhehlene Makhaula won’t travel to Cape Town for the club’s clash with Cape Town City on Wednesday.
Patrick Maswanganyi and Makhehlene Makhaula will both serve a suspension this week, meaning they are unavailable for the Sea Robbers’ visit to Green Point to face Cape Town City. Kickoff between the Citizens and the Sea Robbers on Wednesday 1 May is at 15:00.

Jose Riveiro’s side have scored 16 goals in their last four games across all competitions. Maswanganyi has five goals and five assists this season in 23 league appearances. Across all competitions, he has nine goals and 10 assists in 32 outings. That’s a stellar return for the 26-year-old. The attacking midfielder has added dynamism and directness to the Pirates front four, flanked by the in-form duo Kabelo Dlamini and wonderkid Relebohile Mofokeng. In his absence against City, Pirates could call upon the fit-again Evidence Makgopa or retain Monnapule Saleng, who started against Royal AM. With Makhaula suspended, Jose Riveiro should persist with Thalente Mbatha and bring Miguel Timm into the engine room alongside him, provided that Timm is fit.

A win against City is imperative to keep pace with the in-form Stellenbosch in the race for a top-two finish.
