In a recent tweet, journalist Rudy Galetti claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have identified Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie as a target. It has been stated that Spurs are eyeing the Ivory Coast midfielder as a replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer.

Kessie’s Decent Season At The Nou Camp

Kessie had a successful campaign at the Catalan club as he was responsible for producing a series of solid displays at the centre of the park. The 26-year-old registered three goals and three assists in 43 matches for Barca last season in all competitions.

The Ivory Coast sensation made most of his appearances off the bench which explains why he only averaged 0.5 tackles, 0.4 interceptions, 0.4 clearances, 0.5 shots, 0.3 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He was accurate when interchanging possession with his teammates from midfield after completing 86.8% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).

Kessie’s current deal at the Nou Camp will run out in the summer of 2026 which could make it difficult for Spurs to land him on a cut-price deal in this off-season

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Snap Kessie Up This Summer?

Kessie is a tough-tackling midfielder who can read the danger well to make some timely interceptions for his team in the middle of the park. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the offensive. The Ivory Coast midfield ace can even chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals. He can even make a few energetic runs with the ball from midfield.

We can expect Kessie to bring more bite and steel to Tottenham‘s midfield. He would be an excellent replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at the North London club this summer. Hence, Angelos Postecoglu should think about snapping him up soon.Juventus working tirelessly to secure Kessié from Barcelona: The reported figures | Juvefc.com

At 26, Kessie is about to enter his prime, so Spurs can expect to get the best out of him in the coming years if they manage to sign him ahead of the new campaign. He might even help the North London giants challenge for a top-four spot in the Premier League next season as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in English football.
