The Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Key Bridge Fund of the Baltimore Community Foundation has received a $10 million donation from the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles combined, as of Friday’s announcement.
Five million dollars were provided by each organisation.
The fund was established to aid in the healing and relief efforts for the families, first responders, port employees, small companies, and communities impacted by the fatal fall of the Key Bridge on March 26.
“In a statement, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti expressed his sincere condolences to the victims and their families involved in this tragic event.” “We appreciate the bravery and nonstop labour of our first responders. It is an honour for the Ravens to assist the people and businesses in Maryland that have been impacted by the Francis Scott Key Bridge recovery operations. We have faith that in this hour of extreme need, Baltimore and Maryland will continue to show incredible fortitude and resiliency.”
The Orioles’ owner, David M. Rubenstein, stated, “Our city’s resilience has once again been sorely tested.” “Under the leadership of Governor Wes Moore, and in collaboration with the Ravens, the Orioles offer this contribution to support those who keep our city, our state, and our country in business.”
When a cargo ship lost control and collided with one of the bridge’s piers, much of the structure collapsed.
