Rangers and Celtic are reportedly in talks with Newcastle United about signing a Middlesbrough player.

According to FTBL, the foursome, along with Danish club FC Copenhagen, is looking for custodian Tom Glover. He has made 20 appearances in all competitions since leaving Melbourne City in 2023 and is on track to become Australia’s number one.

According to the site, Middlesbrough “might be tempted to cash in come the end of the season on a player contracted until 2026.” It has also been stated that he is “high on Brendan Rodgers’ radar” with Joe Hart retiring at the conclusion of the season. Rangers are searching for competition for number one Jack Butland, and Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is in a similar situation.

Meanwhile, Rangers manager Philippe Clement has advised Dundee that they cannot blame the controversial postponement of Wednesday’s game on the weather. The Premiership game has been called off for the second time, as the pitch at Dens Park was inspected twice before being ruled wet.

Clement told Sky: “It was a bizarre situation since it wasn’t a surprise, therefore it could have been prevented with faster decision-making, or by playing at another site yesterday or today. But that should have been planned earlier in the week, with a Plan A, B, and C for each situation.

“It has been postponed again by one week. And I understand the frustration of other teams who argue that the divide is a sporting injustice because these games are so important. So this is a very unusual circumstance.
