With one week left in the regular season, the Celtics have finally identified their 15th player.

The organisation has announced that it has signed Neemias Queta for the remainder of the season, making him eligible for postseason play. According to Brian Robb of MassLive, the agreement is for multiple years.

following Sacramento released Queta following an MVP season with their Stockton affiliate, Brad Stevens, President of Basketball Operations, signed him to a two-way contract early last fall. He played significant minutes early in the regular season, including a good stretch on a December west coast trip while the team’s front court was out injured. In 26 games, the Portuguese native has averaged 4.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks in 11.4 minutes.

It is uncertain if Queta has played his final game for Boston’s G-League franchise. Both Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis are classified as questionable for tonight’s game in Milwaukee. It might be a good opportunity for Queta to gain significant experience with the big club, but the organisation may also provide him the chance to continue what he started up north.

Queta has thrived in Maine as a pogo stick room protector/runner, playing an important role in the team’s Finals run. In eight games, he has averaged 14.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.1, and 1.9 blocks, including 16 and 19 in Sunday’s Eastern Conference Finals victory. Tonight, the Maine Celtics host the Oklahoma City Blue in Game 1 of a best-of-three series.
