Newcastle United may face a difficult summer ahead.

While they still have an awful lot to play for during what remains of this season, Newcastle might have to make difficult decisions.

Indeed, Eddie Howe has already admitted this will likely be a “difficult summer” for the club under the continued obstacle of FFP limitations.

During the January transfer window, it was even said that the club may have to sell one of their prized assets if they were to have spent big.

Sadly, much of the talk about leaving this summer has been surrounding Bruno Guimaraes.

The midfielder was strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this week before The Athletic claimed there was an acceptance he may leave this summer.

Guimaraes, however, sent a message about his future after scoring the winning goal against Fulham on his 100th Newcastle appearance on Saturday.

Bruno Guimaraes sends clear message on Newcastle transfer future

Speaking to Premier League Productions after the game, the 26-year-old said: “I hope to stay much longer.

“I don’t know what the future brings, let’s see, but I hope to play much more for Newcastle United.”

Newcastle selling Bruno Guimaraes would be gutting

While Guimaraes may be open to staying at Newcastle as he says, that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be tempted by another huge offer.

That, sadly, is the nature of modern football.

To have to sell him due to financial concerns would be truly gutting. Were this still the Mike Ashley era, it would be understandable for him to be itching for a move of course but Newcastle are in a different realm now
