Derrick Henry is headed to Baltimore, just as the two-time running champion predicted this summer.

However, Henry concedes that it would have been ideal for him to stay at home, not in Tennessee, but in Dallas.

Henry lives in Dallas, but the Cowboys never called, so he signed with the Ravens for a two-year contract worth up to $20 million.

“I knew once free agency started that I wanted to work something out [with the Ravens] if we could,” Henry recently stated on The Pivot podcast. “Even though I reside in Dallas, which is a fantastic setting, we don’t have to leave. But at the same time, the Ravens, their history, and then speaking with Ray (Lewis) at the Pro Bowl about his enthusiasm for the organisation, his effect there, and how he talked about it. I was like, “Man, if I’m not in Tennessee or can’t go to Dallas, I’d love to be a Raven.”

Henry is now officially a Raven and pleased with how things turned out. However, it’s remarkable that the Cowboys never

“They ain’t holla at me at all,” Henry said when asked if the Cowboys were in the running.

It would have been weird for Henry to play with a star on his helmet. As ideal as the location may have been, Henry stated that nothing was ever in the works.

“It would’ve been crazy,” he remarked. “I assumed it was some sort of outreach, discussion, or anything. You know what I mean? They never reached out. I don’t know anything lot about their organisation. I just know what I hear. I was conversing with my agent. They weren’t very interested. It’s what it is. As I already stated, I’ll be where I’m going to be, and I

Henry, who has rushed for 1,000 yards in five of the last six seasons, is now attempting to become the Ravens’ first 1,000-yard rusher since Mark Ingram in 2019. He may also become the first running back to lead the club in rushing since Gus Edwards in 2018. Quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has twice over 1,000 yards rushing, has dominated Baltimore’s ground game since 2019. Henry is expected to provide plenty of thunder to accompany Jackson’s lightning from the backfield.

“I’m glad it worked out,” he added. “Lamar, there’s no doubt. Zay Flowers had a wonderful year. You know what Mark Andrews brings. The offensive line is solid. They lost a number of men, but I am confident they will find

Along with all of the individual offensive weapons Henry described, he’ll be joining a team that just won the AFC North and advanced to the AFC Championship Game, where it lost to the Chiefs. Henry may be the piece that completes the Ravens’ Super Bowl puzzle. Baltimore hasn’t been to the Super Bowl since winning the Lombardi Trophy in 2012, and Henry, despite four Pro Bowl appearances, has yet to play in one.

It’s a goal he and his new team are excited to achieve.

“I’m happy I’m going somewhere that they’re hungry,” he went on to say. “They’re starving for it, and they’re almost there. They are constantly in conversation. I know Lamar wants one.
