Luton Town are set to beat Middlesbrough to the signing of Ryan Giles, with a deal worth £4million including add-ons agreed with Wolves, TEAMtalk understands.
Giles is back at Molineux after a successful spell on loan at Boro where he helped the Teesside club reach the Championship play-off semi-finals.
The 23-year-old was instrumental to the success of Michael Carrick’s team, registering 11 assists from left wing-back and left-back.
Wolves are looking to balance the books this summer in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, which explains the sales of Ruben Neves to Al Hilal and Nathan Collins to Brentford.
And while Boro were hopeful of bringing Giles back to Teeside, Premier League new boys Luton look to have beaten them to the punch.
We also understand that Boro have now held talks with Dutch outfit Cambuur over their Sierra Leone international left-back Alex Bangura as an alternative to Giles.
Boro have been looking to sell last season’s top scorer Chuba Akpom to raise funds to bolster their squad this summer.
However, as yet no firm bid has come in for the former Arsenal man, who scored an impressive 29 goals last season.
