Aston Villa duo Jacob Ramsey’s and Morgan Rogers’ presence at the club is a major factor as to why Nicolo Zaniolo will depart, sources have told Football Insider.

As revealed by Football Insider (23 February), the Villans will not make their loan deal for the Italian permanent this summer.

Zaniolo, 24, has been pushed down the pecking order at the Birmingham giants following Ramsey’s return from injury and Rogers’ joining in the January transfer window.

It is believed that Villa chiefs are very concerned with Zaniolo’s historical and current injury record as well as his frequently subpar performances.

Unai Emery last named him in the starting line-up in the Premier League against Bournemouth in early December, but he has since been relegated to occasional appearances from the bench.

He is expected to return to parent club Galatasaray at the end of the season despite moving on a loan-to-buy deal with a “compulsory” option if specified conditions are met.

Meanwhile, Ramsey, 22, returned from a foot injury in December and has started seven of the last nine league games that he’s been available.

Rogers, 21, moved to Villa Park in a deal reportedly worth up to £16million with huge expectations from Emery and club chiefs after his stellar performances at Middlesbrough

He has made just two appearances so far, both from the bench, but is expected to be a major part of Villa’s long-term plans.

Aston Villa remained fourth in the Premier League table after their 4-2 win against Nottingham Forest on Saturday (24 February).

They are next in action against Luton Town on Saturday evening (2 March).
