A report on Taiwo Awoniyi has been provided by Nuno Espirito Santo following Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 victory over West Ham at the City Ground.
Speaking with BBC Sport was the head coach.
What has Espirito Santo stated regarding Awoniyi, the striker for Forest? Let’s investigate more closely.
What Nuno Espirito Santo said about Forest star Taiwo Awoniyi
Awoniyi was replaced after taking a knock, so it was another nervous time for the Reds supporters.
I’m hoping it’s nothing too serious so Awoniyi can play against Aston Villa the following week.
Shortly before halftime, the 26-year-old put Forest ahead with a well-executed goal.
He is a vital player for Forest, and his clean finish summed up everything that he stands for.
When questioned about Forest star Awoniyi following the game, Espirito Santo revealed that he wasn’t yet ready.
“Strikers are about scoring, but for us, it’s more than that,” he said to BBC Sport. They have to read the game, work, and when the time comes, upload it on the internet.
“We are aware of his fitness struggles, but we must take care of him.”
Awoniyi fitness struggles are problematic
Although the striker is excellent and cost £18 million from Union Berlin, it’s reasonable to argue that his injury problems are a cause for concern.
Awoniyi has suffered several months of injury since joining Forest in the summer of 2022, and he has had terrible luck.
It is hoped that his apparent pull-up in the second half of yesterday’s game was just mild exhaustion.
When Awoniyi is on the field, Forest is a totally different team, and hopefully, the Reds striker hasn’t sustained any significant injuries.
The Reds will try to keep Awoniyi on the field for as many games as they can going forward, given they are currently five points clear of safety.
