Leeds United’s chances of signing Emmanuel Dennis have been handed a potential boost with Nottingham Forest set to sign Anthony Elanga.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Forest have agreed a £15 million fee with Manchester United to sign the Swedish international, with a deal set to be completed by the end of the week.

Elanga is capable of playing both out wide and down the middle, with his arrival likely to hamper Dennis’ chances of playing regularly at the City Ground.

The 25-year-old only arrived at Forest from Watford 12 months ago in a deal worth around £20 million, but struggled to make an impact.

As such, Forest are now open to letting him move on this summer, with the addition of Elanga more evidence he is not in Steve Cooper’s plans for the upcoming season.

Leeds’ chances of signing Dennis handed boost by Forest transfer

Leeds are in the market for a new striker this summer and Dennis is among the players to have been linked with a move to Elland Road.

That said, whether Leeds need a player of his profile is another question, with Dennis preferring to play off the left rather than down the middle.Emmanuel Dennis - Player profile 23/24 | Transfermarkt

Leeds currently have a plethora of options in that position, with Luis Sinisterra, Wilfried Gnonto, Jack Harrison and Crysencio Summerville all preferring that flank.

Should at least two of those move on during the transfer window, which is a distinct possibility, then that could open the door for Leeds to move for Dennis.

In the mean time, though, Leeds should prioritise a move for an out and out number nine, such as Joel Piroe.
