Mike McCarthy is asserting that the Dallas Cowboys are a “championship program” in Frisco. And when he stated that, when we were seated here at The Star for the news conference on Wednesday? We weren’t entirely certain how he was evaluating the evidence to reach that judgment. We also didn’t understand how he intends to distinguish between Dallas’ current standing as “a championship program” and his vision for “America’s Team” to become a “world championship” squad. Why is Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy often overlooked? His focus isn't on perception

McCarthy remarked, “We have a championship program in place; it’s just not the world championship yet.” “We have the right people, we know how to train to win, and we know how to win, but we haven’t gone above and beyond to win playoff games.”

The Quarterback Who Made Green Bay Forget About Aaron Rodgers - WSJ

Stephen A. Smith of ESPN responded to McCarthy’s confiding remarks on First Take on Thursday morning with one of his trademarked over-acting tirades. “Pardon me, but are you saying that titles can be won without winning playoff games? Did I miss something?” stated Smith. “That is the silliest quote I have heard in a long time!” Smith made it clear that McCarthy’s quarterback players over the years ought to have contributed to more victories than just the one Super Bowl the Packers won.

“After 17 years with Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, and Dak Prescott, you only have one championship to show for it!” Smith growled. “You have a 1–3 postseason record since moving to Dallas four years ago, and you plan to sit up there and tell the world, just days after a humiliation, that you have a championship program?”
