Nottingham Forest are keen on the signing of Strasbourg striker Habib Diallo, according to reports. London-based duo Brentford and West Ham are both also keen on the talisman alongside the Reds.

TEAMtalk claim that Forest are the latest club to express interest in Diallo. The player has been with his current club since 2020 when he transferred from FC Metz.

The 28-year-old has quite an impressive goalscoring record in France. During the 2022/23 campaign, he scored 20 goals and claimed one assist.

Despite long-term interest from West Ham, it’s Forest who are preparing the first move to sign the centre-forward during the transfer window.

Steve Cooper is very keen to add more firepower to his ranks this summer. Taiwo Awoniyi top-scored last season and he needs some competition for his place.

Also, the Forest head coach wanted Diallo last summer. He fired 12 goals during the 2021/22 campaign and had caught the eye of the Reds incumbent.

Furthermore, the Reds could be about to lose a couple of strikers. Sam Surridge is set to join Nashville SC, whilst Emmanuel Dennis has been heavily linked with Leeds.

Forest will hope to add a player or two to their ranks before the season starts. So far this summer, they’ve yet to add anyone to their ranks and reinforcements are required.

Diallo has never played outside of France when it comes to European football and he would have something to prove in another country.

Forest keen on signing Diallo

The striker should be in his prime right now, with his 20-goal haul last season proving as much. He did that in a side that struggled too, so he wouldn’t be fazed by a potential relegation battle at Forest.

Diallo might not cost a fortune too. He does have a contract with Strasbourg until 2025 but it seems likely that his current club would be up for selling him.

The Reds desperately need some new additions to their team. They can’t rely on Awoniyi for the whole season and Diallo could be a useful addition to the Forest ranks.
