WR Tyler Boyd had some harsh words for Pittsburgh’s flagging locker room ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ (7-7) and Cincinnati Bengals’ (8-6) second-season encounter in Week 16. Boyd also made sure to bring up WR George Pickens’ recent lack of effort.
Boyd has a point about Pickens, who gave up blocking on a play in last week’s loss that would have resulted in a touchdown. Then again, his comments will only put more fuel on the fire with the divisional tilt just a couple of days away.
Joey Porter Jr., a rookie wide receiver for the Steelers who isn’t afraid to voice his emotions, already reacted to Boyd by standing up for his teammates.
“He’d have no idea. Porter Jr. stated, “He’s not in this locker room,” as reported by Steelers beat reporter Nick Farabaugh. “His viewpoint is irrelevant. I think he misinterpreted it. Since he’s not in the locker room, he is unaware of what’s happening there.
Come Saturday, both players will have a chance to let their play speak for themselves. With wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase sidelined due to a shoulder injury, Boyd is expected to play a much bigger role, and Porter Jr. is undoubtedly excited about it.
