While many Dallas Cowboys fans were frustrated with the team’s poor performance on the road against the Buffalo Bills in Week 15, the team’s owner wasn’t so broken up and actually praised his coaching staff.

Heading into Sunday the Dallas Cowboys were on an absolute tear. They had won five straight, scored over 40 points three times, and found themselves in a first-place tie with 2022 NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles. However, the hot streak was completely derailed in a 31-10 defeat at Highmark Stadium this weekend.

James Cook shredded the renowned Cowboys defense on the ground, rushing for 179 yards on just 25 carries, while the defense gave up 31 scores. Moreover, Dak Prescott hardly managed to throw for more than 130 yards, while 2023 All-Pro CeeDee Lamb was probably insignificant. As a result, the Dallas offense, which had been on fire for several weeks, was totally shut down.

Although the loss doesn’t mean the end of the world, it was another worrying development in the ‘Boys’ concerning season-long pattern. This year, they have lost all four of their games away from home, and in three of those cases, the results were not very close.

Dallas Cowboys boss praised coaching staff after Week 15 loss to Buffalo Bills

Owner Jerry Jones may be inclined to voice his concerns after another away loss, but he made no such admission during his weekly appearance on Dallas’ 105.3 The Fan radio station. In fact, when questioned about his feelings after his team’s humiliating loss on Sunday, Jones had nothing but praise for head coach Mike McCarthy and his players.

“Well, [McCarthy’s] coached three playoff teams in a row. I think he’s done an outstanding job. I think the fact that he’s your offensive coordinator, as well as head coach, puts him as high or higher stead than when he was the walk-around coach. I frankly said to the staff yesterday, ‘You got us in this spot to be as disappointed as we are about the Buffalo deal and our loss there. It’s your fault because y’all have done such a great job this year getting our team to where we, our fans, everybody have the expectations that we have.

“You pushed us up here to where we get out here and play great the next three weeks and we could absolutely have something great happen for us. Now you all caused us to be disappointed here on Monday by not living to that standard up there, but hats off to you.’ In other words, I didn’t spend my day in there looking grumpy or however you might look, even though we were all disappointed. The best part of our team this year has been the coaching staff.”
