Dallas Cowboys fans will be irritated by what Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen said about the team’s game strategy. Allen said there was a bit of a scheme while facing the dome-reliant Cowboys after the Bills’ overwhelming 31-10 victory over them. Buffalo saw possibilities in the run game, according to Allen.

“I think just, again, we understand what position we’re in right now, and we’ve got to win games,” Allen told reporters on December 17, 2023. “It doesn’t matter how we do it. And, again, a team like that is accustomed to playing in a dome.

“They throw the ball quite a bit, and I think teams try to throw on their defense quite a bit. And I don’t know if anybody’s attacked the run as much as we did tonight. And again, we just trusted our guys up front and trust our backs to make plays and they did.”

With 266 rushing yards, the Bills destroyed the Cowboys defense. James Cook led the way for Buffalo with 25 carries for 179 yards and a touchdown. Dallas’ absence of starting defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins was expensive, but the squad as a whole struggled against Buffalo in Week 15.

The Cowboys face a challenge not only because of their road woes, but also because their postseason aspirations may hinge on away games. When it comes to winning the NFC East, Philadelphia still has the upper hand.

If Dallas finishes second in the division, the Cowboys will almost certainly return to Tampa to face the Buccaneers in the Wild Card round. This season, Dallas has suffered blowout road losses to Arizona, Buffalo, and San Francisco.

Following the loss, the Cowboys appear to be looking for explanations as to why there is such a disparity when the team is on the road. Dak Prescott believes that there is a “huge difference” in how Dallas performs at home and abroad.

“Yeah, it’s a huge difference, and really, what this next week of preparation and honestly, these next couple of weeks are about is figuring out what that difference is and trying to close that gap,” Prescott said after the game on December 17. “Of course, we’d like to come out and start like we do at home.” Produce like we do at home, but that hasn’t been the case.

“We need to figure out what those answers are and try to bridge that gap.” And we simply cannot be those two disparate teams, you understand?” Prescott went on. “Winning at home against a good team last week [Eagles] and then coming out here today and just not getting anything done.”

“All three phases, all the way around.” But, obviously, when myself [and] the offense don’t get off to a good start, none of that helps. And permits them to keep running with the lead, making it difficult for everyone.”
