Over the weekend, the Crimson Tide added a very skilled athlete to their roster, solidifying their position as the undisputed top recruit for the upcoming season.
A significant occasion for any high school football player would have been this. The defending champion Cocoa High School upset previously unbeaten Bradford by a score of 20–6 in the Class 2S state championship game in Florida.
However, Javion Hilson, a defensive end and pass rusher, decided to up the ante when he later pledged on social media to play for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
He is ranked ninth in Alabama’s recruiting class of 2025, which is widely regarded as the best group in the early team rankings provided by many sources. It also features Troy, Alabama’s Zion Grady, another outstanding pass-rusher.
A 6-foot-4, 225-pound junior who plays defense for the Crimson Tide is regarded as one of the best edge rushers in the country. Recently, players like Chris Braswell, Dallas Turner, and Will Anderson Jr. have been a part of the roster.

Jihaad Campbell and Jeremiah Alexander, who were ranked as the consensus No. 1 and No. 5 pass-rushers in 2022 and 2023, respectively, were part of the signing class. Keon Keeley and Yhonzae Pierre, who were ranked first and fourth overall, along with Qua Russaw, were added in 2023.
All of those players might be very important to Alabama’s defense in the upcoming campaign. One member of the Class of 2024, Sterling Dixon from Spanish Fort, Alabama, is eligible to sign during the early period starting on December 20.
This season, Hilson was credited with 90 tackles, including 14 sacks and 26 for a loss. Several prestigious universities, including Florida, Florida State, and Georgia, made offers to him.
