The 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, quarterback Jayden Daniels of LSU, was revealed on Saturday night. For the honor, he defeated Marvin Harrison Jr., Bo Nix, and Michael Penix Jr.

It was discovered on Friday night that two Michigan athletes had placed among the top 10 candidates for the Heisman Trophy. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy placed 10th, while running back Blake Corum came in ninth.

The Heisman Trophy ballot was made public following the award ceremony, and it may have surprised some that McCarthy and Corum both garnered first-place votes.

Corum received three first-place votes, two second-place votes, and fifteen third-place votes, according the ballot.

McCarthy received seven votes in second place, four in third place, and one in first place.

Corum leads the country in running touchdowns even though he didn’t have the same figures as the finalists. With 24 this season, he broke Michigan’s single-season touchdown record. In the 2023 regular season, Corum gained 1,028 yards on the ground and averaged 4.7 yards per run.

McCarthy, who received one vote in the first place, undoubtedly lacked the numbers that Daniels, Penix Jr., or Nix did in 2023, but he fulfilled all of Michigan’s requests. With 74.2% of his throws completed, he was the football player with the second-highest accuracy rate, only behind Nix. In 2023, McCarthy completed the passing game with 2,630 yards, 19 touchdowns, and just 4 interceptions.

Corum and McCarthy have the opportunity to increase their stats by participating in the College Football Playoffs. On January 1, the Wolverines will play Alabama in the opening round.
