JUST IN: The Eagles head coach emphasized having to coach better to

After the Eagles’ 23-point deficit against the 49ers on Sunday, head coach Nick Sirianni addressed the media in the aftermath of the game. He discussed Jalen Hurts, his decision to punt on fourth-and-2, and his decision to leave the starters in the game. Throughout his press conference, he underlined how important it is that they improve as coaches in order to address these issues.

When the head coach was questioned about Hurts’ performance following a concussion evaluation, Sirianni stated the quarterback was playing well.

When Jalen Hurts returned and ran the show well, I assumed everything was well with him. drove, went down, and scored a touchdown. Then on the next drive, we simply stopped.

Although they seem to be playing soft or giving us the lowball stuff, I felt he performed admirably when he returned. Of course, we’ll monitor his condition and everything.

When they decided to punt on a 4th-and-2, Sirianni stated he didn’t regret it since he thought there was still a lot of football left to play in the third quarter.

“I don’t feel bad about that choice. Since I had so much time and the ball was in that exact spot, I took care of business as I saw fit.

When questioned later about whether Jalen Hurts’ health prevented him from going for it on a fourth down, the head coach denied that it did.

About starting with a 23-point deficit, Siriannini stated that they continued to play the starters when they were behind by 16 points because he thought they had two more minutes to rally. When it was brought up that the Eagles were trailing by 23 points and the starters were still in the game, Sirianni said they weren’t giving up.

“Yes, we will fight until the very end.”

Regarding playing the 49ers once more
As they returned to the locker room, a few Eagles players remarked, “We’ll see them again.” Sirianni explained that while it’s not what they should be concentrating on at the moment, they will be prepared if it does happen.

“I heard a lot of folks joking around about playing them again, so it’s most likely going to happen once more. But between now and then, there is a ton of football to be played. There are a ton of other excellent teams as well.

Therefore, something cannot be part of our thinking. Tomorrow is going to require us to go through our process and obtain the repairs for the mistakes we committed. When we play anyone in the NFC, we’ll make sure to follow our procedure to explain what went wrong and then, if we play them again, to kind of evaluate our performance and identify what we may do differently.

Sirianni stated that although the 49ers were able to get some momentum after the first quarter, it’s difficult to conclude that they made many offensive improvements because the first quarter’s total of six plays was so small.
The head coach acknowledged that the tackling on that day was a touch out of the ordinary and added that both the players’ execution and their coaching would need to improve. He also gave the 49ers credit for making plays by pointing out that they broke tackles on a few of those plays.

He was quick to acknowledge that they had trouble in the red zone during the first quarter and that it was difficult to get off to a rapid start with just a six-point lead. Sirianni clarified that he must
