Grades and reactions for Detroit Lions 2023 NFL free agency: thumbs up or thumbs down?

The Detroit Lions have completed the first week of NFL free agency 2023, having signed five new players: defensive backs C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Cam Sutton, and Emmanuel Moseley, running back David Montgomery, and center Graham Glasgow.

As of Monday morning, they’d lost four free agents, including three starters and a key special teams contributor: RB Jamaal Williams (New Orleans), OL Evan Brown (Seattle), S DeShon Elliott (Miami), and LB Chris Board (New England).

Their top unrestricted free agent, receiver DJ Chark, is still available.

Late Sunday night, the Lions reinforced the defense with one of the top free agents to enter the market this March, signing Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to a one-year, $8 million contract.
