On Sunday, Brock Purdy will return to the site of his horrific elbow injury, but the San Francisco 49ers quarterback says there are no long-term effects. Purdy stated that he is focusing on this Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles and not on the injury-plagued NFC Championship game from last January. “I got hurt there and everything, but for me, it’s Week 13,” Purdy said to reporters on Thursday. “We’re leaving in a hostile environment.” We’re late in the season, so every game is certainly important to us. So that’s where I’m at with my thinking. It’s a new year, and both teams are unique in their own way. So that’s how I see things.”

Purdy injured his passing elbow last season eight minutes into a 31-7 defeat to Philadelphia when Haason Reddick administered a blow to Purdy’s right arm. Purdy returned to the game in the third quarter after fill-in Josh Johnson had a concussion later in the game, but he could only pass the ball a few yards. Purdy, on the other hand, stated that he will not be reliving that day when he steps onto the same surface at Lincoln Financial Field. He had major surgery in the offseason and has recovered to have a strong second NFL season.

Will I go in there and get all mushy about ‘I’ve gone a long way since’? “It’s not like that,” Purdy clarified. “Am I going to go into the game saying I want revenge and stuff like that?” That is not the case (either). So I’m just going to do my job and try to be the best Brock I can be for this team.” Purdy leads the NFL with a 70.2 completion percentage while leading the 49ers (8-3) with 2,871 yards, 19 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Philadelphia has the best record in the NFL (10-1) thanks to star quarterback Jalen Hurts, who has tossed for 18 touchdowns and rushed for 11 more.
