The Miami Dolphins defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 20–13, ending the team’s winning run. In contrast to many defeats in previous years, the offense, not the defense, was the cause of the team’s loss in this game.
Aidan O’Connell, a rookie quarterback, had a really difficult game. He threw three interceptions, the game-winning one going to CB Jalen Ramsey on the last drive. The organization still maintains faith in O’Connell as quarterback even though he has thrown three touchdowns to six interceptions in five games this season.
Prominent wide receiver Davante Adams made it apparent that O’Connell is still loved by many.
Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports that at Adams’ postgame media availability on November 19, he stated, “We’re not freaking out, he’s not freaking out.” “We just need to stick together and figure out how to convert more effectively.”
The Raiders defense, which has been playing really well lately, limited the NFL’s best offense to just 20 points in spite of the offense’s lackluster performance. If Las Vegas had won, it would have been a major victory and would have improved their chances of making the playoffs. Regretfully, O’Connell was unfit for duty this week.
Could Team Turn to Jimmy Garoppolo?
Outside of a 30-point performance against the New York Giants in Week 9, the Raiders offense has struggled all season. They have yet to score 20 or more points in 10 of 11 games this season. Benching Jimmy Garoppolo in favor of Aidan O’Connell has not led to a boost.
The Raiders could face a tough decision if O’Connell doesn’t improve. Garoppolo has been bad this season and led the league in interceptions (9) before getting benched. However, the team is paying him $24.25 million a season and he’s been good in the past despite a rough debut year with the Raiders.
