Former NRL enforcer departs from the team to look for other opportunities

Former player Pauli Pauli of the Newcastle Knights and Parramatta Eels has chosen to leave his previous team in order to explore other chances.

Although he was under contract with the York Knights until the conclusion of the 2024 season, the 29-year-old has quit the RFL Championship team with immediate effect.

In 2012, Pauli became an Australian Schoolboy, and his future and potential were full with promise.

Though he never reached his full potential, the NSW Under-20 representative went on to play four seasons in the NRL for the Eels and Knights.

He made his debut in Round 4, 2014, and he would go on to participate in 48 NRL games, appearing four times across the line before retiring in 2017.

According to the club, “The Knights can confirm that forward Pauli Pauli has departed York RLFC with immediate effect to pursue new opportunities,” on X (previously Twitter).

“We would like to thank Pauli for his efforts during his time at York and wish him all the best for the future!”

The barnstorming attacker, who signed with the York Knights in 2022, is leaving the team after playing for two English Super League teams: Wakefield Trinity and Salford Red Devils.

His departure is due to his desire to seek new chances, although Toulouse Olympique, the Betfred Championship Play-off Finalists, have recently been strongly connected to him, and their confirmation may come soon.
