Celtics star Jaylen Brown is listed as questionable against the Raptors on Friday after missing the last game with a non-COVID illness.
The Boston Celtics have been looking like one of the best teams in the NBA and a legitimate championship contender. Their offseason trades for Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis have added another level to the team and have fit perfectly around their two stars in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. But the Celtics had questions on whether or not Jaylen Brown would be in the lineup for their Friday matchup against the Toronto Raptors due to a questionable status on Thursday night. Brown had been dealing with a non-COVID illness and is questionable as per Bobby Krivitsky of Sports Illustrated.‘Per the #Celtics, Jaylen Brown (non-Covid illness) and Kristaps Porzingis (right knee contusion) are questionable for their game against the #Raptors tomorrow night. Al Horford (left big toe sprain) is probable’
However, it appears that Brown intends to play and is feeling better, according to Jay King of The Athletic on Friday morning.
‘It appears that Jaylen Brown expects to play tonight. He stated that he is feeling much better.’
Jaylen Brown missed the Celtics’ last game against the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference due to a non-COVID sickness. Previously, he has appeared in every game for the Celtics this season. Brown, a two-time All-Star, received a max contract this season.
Brown has averaged slightly more than 33 minutes per game in the Celtics’ first ten games of the season. He’s averaging 22.9 points per game, 5.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.0 steals while shooting 45.9 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from three-point range, and 73.8 percent from the free throw line.
The Celtics now lead the Eastern Conference with a 9-2 record. They are also tied for the best record in the NBA with the Denver Nuggets. They advanced to the NBA Finals in 2022, when they were defeated in six games by the Golden State Warriors. Last season, they advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals before falling to the Miami Heat in seven games.
