The NBA’s greatest story in recent days has been Draymond Green’s five-game suspension for choking Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert. Even former player Metta World Peace (previously known as Ron Artest) has commented on it.

In an interview with CinemaBlend about his role on “The Masked Singer,” Peace mentioned Green and his desire to contact him. Peace had already been suspended, most notably for his involvement in the infamous “Malice of the Palace” episode in 2004.

“Well, I’d like to speak with Draymond to make sure he’s okay. He’s a high-energy player. “This is not something I expected from Draymond,” Peace added. “If you compare my career to Draymond’s career, he has four rings and was always able to keep his energy under wraps.” This [event] has taken me by surprise.”

Peace did draw parallels between himself and Green in terms of how they both overreacted during their careers. Following that, he stressed that he hopes to speak to him, potentially to give him advise on how to keep his emotions in check because Peace has been through this before.

“I’d rather check in with Draymond to see how he’s doing so that one day he can reach out to me because his career is going so well.” “Despite the fact that he has a lot of energy, which can come across as negative at times,” Peace added. “To see him overreact in the same way that I have overreacted at times in my career, it’s just a thing where you want to reach out to a player.” So I’m hoping I can talk to him and see where his mind is at and stuff like that.”

Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, agrees with Metta World Peace.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is a prominent figure that agrees with Peace in retaining his rage. According to ESPN, the four-time NBA champion coach stated that Green must define boundaries in events such as the one against the Timberwolves.

“Draymond has to find a way to not cross the line,” he remarked. “I’m not referring to an ejection or a technical foul; I’m referring to a physical act of violence.” That is unforgivable. We must do everything in our power to provide him with the aid he requires to make the distinction between becoming an exceptional competitor… However, he cannot cross that line. He definitely crossed it the other night.”

Kerr had to make it obvious that he didn’t like Green attempting to pull off Gobert, but that it was the chokehold that was the problem, and that the five-game suspension was justified. He even hinted that the loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder was a terrible omen for the league.

“I don’t have a problem with [Green] trying to get Rudy off of Klay … but he’s got to let go,” he said. “He held on for about six or seven seconds.” It was a bad image for the NBA, Draymond, and everyone.”

Nonetheless, the Warriors will be without Green when they face the Thunder again tomorrow night. Golden State is currently 6-7 on the season, good for eighth place in the Western Conference.
