Brew has previously visited Michigan, most recently in July for the Big House BBQ. He has a link to the Wolverines in safety Rod Moore, who went to Northmont High School in Clayton, Ohio, like Brew before his senior year.
“Michigan is a big family, and I have a closer friend, Rod Moore, who went to Northmont,” Brew told 247Sports’ Allen Trieu. “He took me on a tour. I actually stayed the night at his apartment, and everyone and every player was genuine and treated me as if I’d known them for a long time. They were not aggressive in any way. The coaches know what they’re doing; they’ll coach you hard and tough while still loving you. That’s

An athletic quarterback prospect with a strong baseball background who will graduate from high school having played a large number of varsity snaps. As a passer with a lower release point, he is a little unconventional, but he makes things happen more often than not, displaying excellent field command. Over the last few years, he has mostly operated out of a pro-style spread attack and has had a lot of success coordinating run-pass options because he can elude defenders and shift directions while keeping his eyes down field. Can generate a lot of whip and attack the sticks, but he needs to improve his ball placement because he tends to miss low. Improved touch on his deep shots could potentially open up some possibilities. As a sophomore, he threw six interceptions but cut back on them.
The million-dollar question for every Michigan fan now is, “What does this mean for five-star Bryce Underwood?” The solution is…well, nothing. The Wolverines will continue to recruit Underwood until he makes a decision, which is expected on January 6. We’ll find out soon enough if Michigan can persuade him to join the program despite having a two-quarterback class.
But for the time being, Michigan fans should be excited about Smith. He’s a high-caliber prospect who can make plays with both his arms and legs. He may not have the same pedigree as Underwood, but if Harbaugh and Campbell loved this man enough to take him before Underwood made his decision, I’m not going to dispute their judgment.
Smith has offers from Florida, Florida State, Miami, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Maryland, Penn State, and other schools in addition to Michigan.
According to 247Sports’ aggregate rankings, Smith is the No. 15 quarterback, No. 33 prospect from Florida, and No. 231 overall recruit in the 2025 class. Check out the video below for some junior season highlights.
