will make a fresh bid for Matheus Nascimento after seeing their first bid rejected by Botafogo. The Reds aren’t leading the chase, however, with Europa League outfit Sporting Lisbon thought to sit in pole position right now.
According to journalist Vene Casagrande, the Reds are going back into the market to try and sign the wonderkid. A first bid of £8 million was rejected but Forest appear undeterred in their attempts to land the striker.
It’s going to take around £10 million for Forest to prise Nascimento him away from the club which sits top of the Brazilian top flight right now. The 19-year-old is very highly-rated in South America and it’s only 12 months since Real Madrid were planning to sign him.
Nascimento looks like a player who could be set for a bright future. He’s found the net three times for Botafogo this season and is being rewarded with more games on the senior scene.
Forest’s new deal will see them bid £9 million for the player. They will also give 20% of any future sale to the Brazilian club but Nascimento hasn’t given the green light for the deal yet.
The Reds are keen to add more firepower to their squad this summer. Taiwo Awoniyi will likely remain the main striker; with Emmanuel Dennis unwanted and Sam Surridge set to join Nashville SC.

It will be interesting to see if Forest can persuade Nascimento to come to England. It seems like Sporting Lisbon are leading the race and they will play in Europe next season.
Nascimento would be a solid investment for the future at Forest. The player is a centre-forward and he’s scored 11 goals in total during his time playing for Botafogo at senior level.
