If Canterbury releases Josh Addo-Carr from his contract, the Bulldogs flyer might make a surprising transfer to Parramatta.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Parramatta has indicated interest in signing Addo-Carr and has proposed a player swap deal.

To finalise the deal, the Eels would have to release a player, possibly a forward. After a string of off-field issues, Addo-Carr and the club were on unstable ground, but a recent meeting with general manager Phil Gould was claimed to have eased tensions.

The premiership-winning winger is under contract with Canterbury until the end of 2025, but if made a free agent, he could go immediately.

The Bulldogs could gain from a player trade after losing Tevita Pangai Jnr, Luke Thompson, Corey Waddell, Franklin Pele, and Fa’amanu Brown.

Addo-Carr has recently been in the news for all the wrong reasons.

First, he received a two-match suspension and a $5,000 fine for his involvement in a brawl at the Koori Knockout.

He was subsequently forced to apologise for an offensive social media post that linked Indigenous land rights to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

According to sources close to Addo-Carr told Wide World of Sports’ The Mole that he was upset with the club’s level of support for the former Wests Tigers and Storm flanker.

“Pressure and stress can manifest themselves in a variety of ways at times.”

“We will get him back on track.”

The Eels just recruited Manly centre Morgan Harper on a one-year deal to bolster depth, but Addo-Carr might provide the X-factor out wide that the team requires to reclaim a spot in the top eight.

Addo-Carr has scored 27 tries in 38 matches since joining Canterbury in 2022.

The Eels and Bulldogs have yet to respond to the situation.

On Wednesday, the Bulldogs signed Warriors forward Josh Curran to a multi-year contract.
