Julian Good-Jones, a former CFL offensive tackle, has been signed off the Philadelphia Eagles’ practise roster and added to the Washington Commanders’ 53-man active roster.

The Eagles signed the 6-foot-5, 319-pound lineman this offseason after previously attending training camp with the team in 2020. After being waived as part of the team’s final roster cuts, he was placed on the practise roster for the first half of the season.

Good-Jones made 22 starts for the Calgary Stampeders (2021-22), mostly as right tackle. Calgary allowed 17 sacks in his final season while averaging 6.4 yards per run and 135.3 rushing yards per game, both of which were far and away the best in the CFL.

Good-Jones’ CFL rights are held by Calgary until February 2024, after which he will be able to join with any other team.

Over four seasons at Iowa State, Good-Jones played and started 49 games. He was named honourable mention All-Big 12 in 2017 and 2018, and first-team All-Big 12 in 2019.

He helped pave the way for an Iowa State offensive that set school records for total offence, touchdowns, passing yards, and yards per play as a senior. The Cyclones also allowed the fewest sacks in the conference that year, with 16.

The Commanders (4-5) will travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks (5-3) on Sunday, November 12 at 4:25 p.m. EDT.
