Watch every basket made by Kristaps Porzingis in his Celtics debut against the New York Knicks, his previous squad. In his debut game with the team, Porzingis ended with 30 points on 8/15 field goal shooting, setting a franchise record for a player.
Both Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis made a good impression in their debut Boston Celtics game on Wednesday night. However, the players the Celtics lost this offseason are comparable.
In the Boston Celtics’ 108-104 victory over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, Porzingis set a franchise record and Holiday played lockdown defence. However, four former Celtics, who were dealt by Boston this offseason, made their NBA debuts on Wednesday night.
Marcus Smart, Robert Williams, Malcolm Brogdon, and Grant Williams were the four players that scored double digits while shooting at least fifty percent from the field. A brief summary of their performances is provided below.
17 points, 6 for 11 FG (54.5%), 2 for 6 3PT (33.3%), three assists, two steals, and five turnovers are the stat line.
In his Memphis debut, Smart wasted little time, making a 3-pointer from one of his favourite locations less than two minutes into the Grizzlies’ game against the Pelicans.
In Memphis’ 111-104 defeat, Smart was largely overshadowed by Desmond Bane, who finished with 31 points, five rebounds, and five assists. But with Ja Morant out due to suspension, Smart’s 17 points were tied for second-most on the team, and the Grizzlies will be looking to him to provide a lot of offensive production early in the season.

But perhaps Williams’ most significant breakthrough came when he made a mid-range shot and it went in. Portland will be thrilled if the former big man for the Celtics can add this to his repertoire because he practically had no offensive game beyond the paint while he was in Boston.
20 points, 8 for 16 FG (50 percent) is the stat line. Five assists, two rebounds, and three of five (3PT) shots (60%)
As a super sub behind rookie Blazers guard Scoot Henderson, Brogdon continued where he left off after winning Sixth Man of the Year in Boston the previous season. The 30-year-old, who only saw 22 minutes off the bench, led Portland in scoring.
Brogdon, who made a deep playoff run with the Celtics the previous season, is presumably not overjoyed to be joining the lottery-bound Blazers. However, if he keeps up his current production level, a contender looking to acquire him through a trade should take notice.
