Leon King appears to have sustained a major head injury in Rangers’ match against St Mirren.
Curtis Main’s left forearm caught the 18-year-old defender on the back of the head as the two players competed for the ball in the air, and King dropped to the turf. As the child lay lifeless on the pitch, medical personnel rushed into the scene.
The game was held up for seven minutes as Rangers medics worked to comfort the player and sort the situation with first aid staff. King was strapped into the stretcher with his head and neck protected and his eyes were closed as he left the pitch. It didn’t look as though Main was deliberately trying to hurt King but he clearly made contact. Referee Kevin Clancy took no action.
Manager Gio van Bronckhorst revealed that the youngster has been taken to hospital.
