Before his team’s match against West Ham United on Sunday, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has delivered some unwelcome news.
Tomorrow, West Ham will visit Villa Park to play Aston Villa. Yesterday, Unai Emery gave a press conference ahead of the game.
Given that his squad has been playing well this season, Hammers manager David Moyes will be optimistic going into this match.Given that his squad has been playing well this season, Hammers manager David Moyes will be optimistic going into this match.
Nonetheless, the Villans are a formidable squad and have had a great start to their 2023–24 Premier League campaign. At the moment, they are seated two spots and two points in front of us at the table.
But tomorrow, they’ll be missing a few important players.
The Villa boss addressed the national media during his pre-match press conference yesterday afternoon. And Emery provided an update on Villa duo Jacob Ramsey and Alex Moreno, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:
They are making excellent development, so we are patient with them. Being accessible to play two or three weeks ago was the last action they neglected to take. Moreno was working out with us, but he failed to complete the final drill in order to be fully recovered and ready to play. We pulled him off. He won’t need much time because he is currently making good development to be ready to play formal matches in addition to training with us. Jacob Ramsey was also stopped by us. Again, he suffered a minor injury. Now that he has made it apparent that he will return in full and at the required level, we must move on.
Over the past year or two, Ramsey and Moreno have been crucial members of Villa’s team. And in light of that, Emery will suffer greatly if they are not available for selection.
We would overtake the hosts in the standings with a victory over the East London team at Villa Park tomorrow, and I believe we have a good opportunity of doing so.
Unai Emery must be mindful that West Ham has a strong record while playing Aston Villa.
Since 2015, the Hammers have not lost against the Villans in any form of competition. In our previous six encounters with them, we have won five and drew one.
Without a question, Emery has turned Villa around. They are now an elite group. But I still kind of want us to go tomorrow. Villa is missing a few key players, thus I believe we could easily flip them over by consistently hitting them on the counterattack.
