Newcastle have been connected with Arsenal attacker Emile Smith-Rowe in recent days, a player Eddie Howe admires.
It is not the first time we have been associated with him, and our ability to move to the UEFA Champions League last 16 will influence which players, and how many, we pursue in January.
It will also be determined by our position on the Financial Fair Play guidelines.
The excellent commercial deals we are currently negotiating should release the purse reins in the coming year or two.
The 23-year-old Croydon-born player usually plays on the left wing, but he is versatile and can also play on the right and also in central midfield. The 6ft tall player has played for all of the English youth teams from U16 and he has 3 full caps for England. Emile has been at Arsenal since he was 10 years old, and to make the England squad for the Euro 2024 in Germany next summer, he needs to play a lot more games. And he can do that if he can get a move to (say) Newcastle in January.
He is a very good player with good technical skills and a positive attitude.
Smirth-Rowe seems a perfect player for Eddie Howe to improve if we can him to the club, preferably in January.
Smith-Rowe has made 102 appearasnces for the Gunners and has scored 18 goals with 11 assists.
What do you think about getting Smith-Rowe into the club in January?
I do not fancy that Smith -Rowe as a signing – so it is a no thanks from me.
Should be a good sporting day tomorrow -afternoon the Toon v Palace (expect 3 points for the Toon) and Tonali starting.
Then tomorrow night on ITV1 in the UK the massive England v South Africa game. Hope we win but cannot see it . SA are relentless and brutal.
Why are you putting his transfer tag and availability above his welfare?
He might be bought and sold as a commodity but he can still be valued as a person.
Eddie didn’t sound too angry to me, and as manager he’ll be affected by any ban more than anybody else wouldn’t you think?
The lad made a mistake, he’ll get help and with Eddie and the clubs guidance he’ll probably return all the stronger from it.
Good news for you cos that’ll probably raise his value too!
(you do know his value is only relevant if the club themselves want to sell him?)
