According to reports, Galatasaray is trying to recruit Youri Tielemans, a star for Aston Villa, in January.
The 26-year-old, who signed for free in the summer, has had a challenging start to life at B6. Tielemans has made 13 appearances across all competitions, however he hasn’t yet made his Unai Emery debut in the league.
The Turkish publication Fotomac claims that Galatasaray is aware of the situation. There are rumours that the club has spoken with a Tielemans representative.
Furthermore, it is reported that after making first contact, the Turkish team started the process of signing the Belgium international. According to further reports from Fanatik, Okan Buruk, the manager of Galatasaray, is “pushing to sign” Tielemans since he is an admirer of the midfield player.
The 26-year-old was on Galatasaray’s radar before he signed with Unai Emery’s team during the most recent transfer window, and they still have their sights set on him.
They allegedly “made another move” and “started work” on trying to sign the Belgium international. According to the source, Buruk’s team has established “first contact” for a possible transaction, most likely with the former Leicester City player’s camp.
This season, Tielemans has only played 144 minutes in the league, and he hasn’t made a single start. Even if he plays on loan, the midfield player is “keen on playing for Galatasaray” and is dissatisfied with his current circumstances.

Since Unai Emery joined Aston Villa in October 2022, a massive tsunami of progress has crashed over Villa Park, with the Spaniard serving as the impetus for change in the Midlands. After Steven Gerrard was fired, the former Arsenal manager took over his team. At the time, the Villans were in 16th position with little chance of moving up, but when Emery took over, things quickly turned around.
The four-time winner of the Europa League finished sixth in his debut season, earning his new team a spot in the Europa Conference League and remarkably transforming their performance; as of now, only Manchester City and Arsenal have amassed more points in 2023.
Emery welcomed five new players to Villa Park this summer, which helped him achieve further success. However, it’s possible that the Spaniard is already considering his options for more change in the future.
With the January transfer window rapidly approaching, teams will be monitoring the circumstances of possible targets. One name, though, may finally arrive in the Midlands for Villa following months of rumours about a potential deal.
Dani Ceballos, a midfielder for Real Madrid and an erstwhile Emery player at Arsenal, has once again been connected to a possible transfer to Villa.
In an attempt to push for a spot in the Los Blancos team, the 27-year-old reportedly rejected a move to Villa Park after being approached during the January 2022 transfer window, according to Spanish daily Marca.
In the summer, there was more conjecture about Villa’s aspirations to recruit the Spaniard. According to SPORT, the Midlands club was getting ready to submit a bid for the playmaker that would likely cost €15 million (£13 million).
