Gonçalo Guedes, on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, would like to stay at Benfica for a longer period of time.
That was said by the player himself during a conversation with several Portuguese media on Tuesday.
In a video posted by Mais Futebol, the Wolves player discussed the negotiations that led to his move to Benfica, as well as how delighted he is to be there.
“I had this thought. I had informed those in charge that it was doable. We had talks, which went quite well.
I was overjoyed because playing for Benfica is always like being at home. I’ve lived my entire life here, and I hope to stay as long as I can.”
Guedes had already been loaned to Benfica in January, but injuries prevented him from performing well at the club. Because of his knee ailment, a return to the Eagles was the best answer Wolves could find for him during the summer window.
The winger is now fully recovered and played a few minutes against Estoril before the international break. Now that he’s in the starting lineup for the Lisbon club, he’ll be looking to prove himself at his old club once more. His potential good performances for Benfica can only benefit Wolves, who will have stronger arguments to sell him next summer.
