Despite possessing a loaded midfield with Frenkie de Jong, Ilkay Gundogan, Gavi, Pedri, and Oriol Romeu, Barcelona is still looking for midfielders to bolster their lineup.

And, according to Toni Juanmarti of SPORT, Newcastle United superstar Bruno Guimaraes is still on the radar of the reigning La Liga champions.

Guimaraes aspires to play for Barcelona.
As previously said, Barcelona wishes to recruit a new long-term pivot midfielder, and Bruno Guimaraes is a player who is well-liked at the club, despite his acquisition looking to be a distant dream at this time.

Guimaraes joined Newcastle from Olympique Lyon in January 2022 and has quickly established himself as a cult figure at St. James’ Park.

Given his importance to the team, the Premier League club agreed to a new long-term contract extension through the summer of 2028 earlier this month.

However, according to the aforementioned article, despite having signed a long-term contract with the Magpies, Guimaraes hopes to play for Barcelona at some point in the future.

He has already made several gestures to the Catalan giants in the past, and he has made no secret of his desire to join Barcelona in his private life.

With Guimaraes hoping to join Barcelona in the future, the report claims that the midfielder has managed to include a Barcelona-specific option in his new deal.

If Barça made a move for him, the transfer cost would be slightly lower than if another team bid for his services. In other words, there is a cost for Barcelona and a cost for other teams.

According to the source, the price tag for Barça to sign the player is about €65-70 million.

Given the club’s current financial state, it will be extremely impossible for Barcelona to pay that figure.

However, if there were one or two huge discounts during the summer, spending such money could not be absolutely out of the question.
