Everton have had a difficult start to the 2023/24 Premier League season, earning only seven points from their first eight league games. Sean Dyche faces a difficult assignment in keeping them from relegation, as he did on the final day of the previous season with a 1-0 win over Bournemouth.

The transfer business done by the club historically recognised for bringing in lesser-known prospects and turning them into very good Premier League quality players has been a major issue for supporters and pundits in recent years. This hasn’t been the case since

David Moyes left to take charge at Manchester United more than a decade ago.

Despite a number of hopeful indicators under Roberto Martinez in his initial years at Goodison Park, the club’s fortunes have taken a dramatic turn since then. Unfortunately for Everton fans, very little business has been done in terms of incoming transfers in the last 12 months, but there is an increasing possibility that some of the team’s top players will jump ship from an apparently sinking ship.

We’ve opted to look at three prominent stars that could leave the Merseyside club in the coming transfer seasons.

The man who clinched Premier League football for Everton in the aforementioned final-day triumph against the Cherries in 2022/23 may be looking for greener pastures after the current season concludes. Doucoure presently has the same number of goals as centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin this season, demonstrating his value to the squad with his ability to get into the box at the appropriate time and reach the back of the net.

With such great exploits in the engine room, the Mali international will no doubt have many fans not only in the English Premier League, but throughout Europe. Everton’s pay budget will be limited as a result of their present financial difficulties.

An even worse dilemma for the club is that, according to Transfermarkt, there is a very real prospect that they will lose their main man in midfield for no transfer fee because his contract is slated to expire at the end of the current season. Doucoure would be the most significant departure among numerous other players who have entered the final year of their contracts.
